About Rothko

Nestled in the stunning grounds of Sculptureum in Matakana, Rothko Restaurant has been delighting diners since 2017. We’ve evolved over the years, from fine dining to smart-casual bistro, and now we’re gearing up for an exciting new chapter. With our new head chef, Neil Sapitula, leading the charge, we’re unveiling a fresh concept this November 2024.

Being part of Sculptureum is a natural fit — we’re all about showcasing art in every form, especially when it comes to food and drinks.

Whether you’re planning an intimate meal for two or a lively gathering for up to 60, Rothko is the perfect spot to connect with friends, family, or colleagues.

We’re currently open Thursday to Monday offering lunch, and dinner on Saturday nights. Come in and get a taste of the creative new dishes that hint at what’s coming soon

The future

In November 2024, we’re excited to unveil our fresh new concept! We’ll be adding an incredible woodfire oven and grill that will take center stage in our kitchen, along with flavours and dishes inspired by Neil’s heritage and his passion for fermentation.

Our new menu will be all about sharing—think snacks, small plates, and larger dishes designed for you to enjoy together.
